pouring the roof and raising the floor

beach wall necessary to stop erosion again

tree house floor, way up in the trees!

support beam for the cantilevered roof that will have a u-shaped cut-out for the bbq

beach wall, filling in with 'pata pata' shells, then a light concrete slurry, the covered with thick nice sand!

sideways pic of tree house floor from another vantage point

restaurant skeleton

forming the roof edges. shells will hide the concrete edge and a second row of shells will hold back the soil. plants will drape and hide the shells... keeping it organic!

first half of roof! notice scalloped edges for drainage...

second half of roof getting formed up. two open arches over the booths.

supporting the form. will be pouring thick concrete with lots of rebar and wire. this is gonna be a strong arched roof!

view from the beach

an open center channel in the roof will be covered with glass that will have a stained-glass effect, casting colours across the floor and letting in the sunlight!

moving from concrete feet to concrete boots!

pouring the roof!

all poured!

finished the first side and removed the forms

poured the floor!

yesterday we finished pouring the 2nd booth floor and put in the table legs. the tables will both lower to seat level, creating a large cushioned lounge in each booth.

today we poured the main section of the restaurant floor! we were happy to have some extra help to day and had a crew of 6 along with ben.

myself, I was on drinking water duty and was particularly taken with ben's concrete feet...

keep on pourin'...

we've been busy pouring concrete floors the last few days!
we now have two steps by the bbq, the floor for the northern seating area, the center walkway between the kitchen and the main restaurant floor, and the storage/reception bay between the booths and the kitchen.
we hopefully will pour the floor for the booths later today and then next week we'll finish the main restaurant floor slabs.
a very dramatic difference to the eye this week after taking such a long break to work on boats!
